There are a number of ways to travel around Chiang Mai. Regardless of the mode of transport, the fare from the airport to the city centre is THB 100 to 200.
Public, air-conditioned taxis are stationed at the airport, railway station and near many hotels but not so easily hailed in the city.
Songthaew (Rod-Daeng or Red Taxi) is the most common and preferred mode of local transportation in Chiang Mai. Wave one down the street (or approach a waiting driver) and tell the driver where you want to go. The fare is by person.
